Services

Cara provides one-on-one training sessions with you and your dog in your home.  She recommends starting out with an introductory session to gather information, discuss expectations, create a training plan and teach basic foundational skills.

Subsequent sessions can be booked over the next few weeks and can cover any of the following:

Foundational skills and basic obedience

  • Achieve reliable responses to basic cues such as Sit, Down, Stay, Come, etc. and learn how to employ them effectively in your everyday life

  • Teach proper leash manners and appropriate behaviors outside of the home

  • Work through basic distractions and learn redirection techniques

Overcoming behavioral issues

  • Learn techniques for helping your dog work through behavioral issues such as reactivity, separation anxiety, resource guarding, fear of strangers, dog aggression, etc.

  • Understand appropriate use of desensitization and counter-conditioning training

  • Develop management techniques to keep your dog happy, healthy, and safe in various environments

Puppy training and housebreaking

  • Set a strong foundation for your puppy by incorporating basic training into your daily routine

  • Understand developmental stages and learn how to handle your puppy appropriately as they grow

  • Utilize effective strategies for housebreaking that work with your lifestyle

Socialization and desensitization

  • Expose your dog to a variety of people, places, and situations

  • Identify and help reduce environmental sensitivity and reactivity

  • Learn techniques for redirecting your dog in the presence of various distractions

  • Help your dog safely and confidently greet all types of people and other dogs in a variety of situations

Enrichment

  • Understand your dog's physical, mental and emotional needs and how to provide adequate mental and physical enrichment on a daily basis

  • Learn games, puzzles, and other problem solving activities to teach your dog

  • Develop a routine that is well suited to your dog's specific personality and individual needs

Extra practice sessions

  • Depending on your needs and the needs of your dog, Cara offers additional follow up sessions where she works directly with your dog when you are not at home to practice skills and provide real-world training along with physical and mental stimulation and enrichment when your dog would otherwise be alone
